ABOUT SARAH

Sarah Gormley is the author of The Order of Things and is currently writing her second book, The Body Thing.

She also leads marketing efforts for Columbus Metropolitan Library, one of the nation’s leading public library systems, a dream job where she has the privilege of helping connect people with books, ideas and the greater Columbus community.

Before returning home to Ohio, Sarah spent more than two decades building brands for organizations including Adobe, Girl Scouts of the USA, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and IMAX. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature from DePauw University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, proof that she has always had one foot in stories and the other in spreadsheets.

In 2019, Sarah founded Sarah Gormley Gallery (SGG), a contemporary art gallery in Columbus based on the belief that owning original art should be a source of joy for everyone. The gallery was inspired by the first piece of original art Sarah ever owned - graduation gift from her grandmother that quietly changed the trajectory of her life.

Whether she’s writing memoir, talking about art, or posting on Instagram, Sarah is fascinated by the same questions: Why do we become who we become? What changes us? And how do we figure out who we’re supposed to be when we’re so busy consuming protein and trying to read instead of scroll?

She lives in Columbus, Ohio, with her partner, Camillus, a very good dog named Rae and an extremely opinionated cat named Little Edie Beale.
